Foolish Operations

Following a number of projects led by choreographer Julie Lebel in the last couple of years, a group of keen professional and non-professional music and dance artists has been formed. We are mainly composed of mothers who need a creative place to dance and play music along with our children. As artists in transition due to maternity leave, pregnancy, or child care realities, we collaborate with organizational partners to support our endeavour in order to keep our costs minimal – all participants are volunteers and the space we practice in is donated in-kind in exchange for workshops and performances. Our current partners are Creekside Community Recreation Centre and Moberly Arts and Cultural Centre.

The group is not motivated by a specific project at this point. The goal is to establish a steady dance and music practice and a space for research and development of project ideas which will emerge as the group develops its coherence and momentum. We are open to integrate more participants and would like to figure a way to do so while keeping the current balance of professional and non-professional artists as well as parents and non-parent.

Tuesdays: 8:30-10am at Creekside Community Recreation Centre
Thursdays: 9:00-10:30am at Moberly Arts and Culture Centre
