2011: Stroller Flash Mob
Seeking participants for a Stroller Dance Flash Mob at Creekside Community Recreation Centre.
January 24, 2011 – The Vancouver Park Board is pleased to announce this unique dance residency at Creekside Community Recreation Centre.
Creekside Community Recreation Centre, Vancouver’s newest community centre and legacy of the 2010 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, and resident dance artist and choreographer Julie Lebel invite you to participate in this exciting and interactive community dance flash mob project. We welcome moms, dads, grandparents and caregivers to participate with their young ones in a stroller to create a dance flash mob to be performed on March 19th, 2011.
Julie Lebel, a new mom with twin girls, performs, presents and teaches contemporary dance and improvisation in theatres, studios and site-specific settings with musicians, visual artists, professional dancers and non-dancers of all ages. Her favourite projects are community and physical engagement.
How to get involved:
- Join our weekly sessions to participate in the creation of choreography
-Tuesdays from 12:00noon to 2:00pm
- Register for a Flash Mob learning workshop to learn simple choreography. Please pre-register at Creekside.
-Friday, Feb 25 from 1:00pm to 2:30 pm
-Saturday March 5 from 9:30am to 11:00 am
-Thursday March 17 from 1:00pm to 2:30 pm.
- We need all participants to be available on March 19 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm. Exact performance time will be shared to participants only.
Note: Youth, seniors and adults without children are also welcome. Volunteer positions are available for many activities including documentation. Please let us know if you need child minding for an older child.

*A flash mob is a large group of people who assemble suddenly in a public place, perform an unusual action for a brief time, and then quickly disperse.
